A heavily fictionalized account about the origins of Doctor Tangalanga, one of Argentina's most celebrated and renowned humorists, whose irreverent prank calls have been revered for generations. Set in the 1960s, it follows Jorge Rizzi, an extremely shy employee of a cosmetics company who can't grasp the idea of speaking in public, let alone approaching a woman. His friend and co-worker Sixto is the exact opposite: talkative, confident and social. When Sixto ends up hospitalized, Jorge must replace him for a series of meetings with potential buyers. He then ends up by chance in a presentation by Conrado Taruffa, a Spanish mentalist, who via hypnosis, manages to "cure" his shyness: by listening to the the clinking of a glass or the ringing of a telephone, Jorge turns into someone else: a "Mr. Hyde" full of extroversion, cheekiness and charm. And so it begins a hilarious journey in which Jorge starts taking revenge on those who mistreated him, cheering up Sixto during his stay at the hospital by bringing him recordings of telephone conversations with strangers he starts pranking, and attracting the attention of Clara, the receptionist of the hospital and the lover of Dr. Giordano, one of the directors of the institution.
