Hungary, 1984, the era of socialism. mechanic Gyuri Maurer is planning the greatest vacation to the West ever for his family. However, only three out of four passports arrive. Gyuri comes up with a brilliant solution: borrowing a client's foreign car and the papers in it, the Maurer family will be having the time of their lives as tourists from West Germany visiting their homeland, the wonderful Hungarian summer resort, Lake Balaton. Little do they know, with their newly acquired car, they are heading right in the middle of the Cold War.
