Maneater

What better place to drown your sorrows than an idyllic island paradise? That was the idea when Jesse's friends convinced her to not let a broken engagement stand in the way of enjoying her prepaid honeymoon. Their sorrows weren't the only thing going to drown on their trip especially with a man-eating shark swimming just below the surface.

**The ridiculous casting/directing choices make Maneater more confusing and unenjoyable. There are many other fish (or sharks) in the sea to watch over this one.** Even though Maneater was a streaming movie, it was every bit a TV movie from the 1990s as could be. The acting, music, editing, and CGI were all dreadful. The most mind-boggling thing about this film was the casting. The friends that fall prey to the crazed man-eating shark were clearly supposed to be college-aged partiers. Throughout the film, statements about just finishing school and calling one of them “kid” confirm the intended age of the characters, but the entire cast looks late 30s or early 40s. I googled it, and they look that way because they are that age! Why do you cast people twice the age of the roles they are supposed to play? It made everything more far-fetched and poorly done. 2022 has not proven itself a good year for shark movies.
